An alarm when one particular person messages you
"Call me if Sara messages."
Some messages cannot wait until morning, and they come from one or two people — a parent, a partner, the person you are on call for. A notification sound is easy to sleep through, and silencing your phone silences them too.
Call Me If rings full screen, at alarm volume, when a message arrives from the person you named — and keeps everything else quiet.
For messages, not calls
Android already lets a starred contact's calls through Do Not Disturb, for free — use that for calls. Call Me If is for messages: one person in WhatsApp, Telegram, Messages or Gmail, picked out from everyone else in the same app.
You can also watch for a word instead of a person: "Call me if a message says urgent."
What happens
- Notify, never silence — a notification Do Not Disturb cannot mute.
- Ring — full screen and an alarm sound.
- Ring, then call me — rings, rings again, then phones your number, then reaches a backup person you chose.
A busy conversation rings once, not a hundred times: while a ring is unanswered, further messages are counted quietly instead of ringing again.
Your messages stay on your phone
The app reads the notification the messaging app posts, with the notification access you give it, and matches it on the phone. The sentence never reaches us, and neither does the message. We are told a sentence matched, and nothing else.
It tells you when it fails
Your phone checks in every fifteen minutes, and when it goes quiet we say so — usually a battery setting that switched itself back on. We will not promise a hundred percent; we tell you when it is not working.
